Save the Dolls

Our ongoing mission is to save as many dolls from thrift stores and the trash as possible.  Why does a doll get abandoned?  The first sign is that the doll's manufacturer goes out of business. It leaves all the dolls that the company produced without any parts, without any hospital services, and without any care.  Over time as a doll ages and is played with, the condition of the doll deteriorates.  A doll's lifetime should be able to carry it through several owners.  The first owner is often the sentimental owner who loves it regardless of condition, but in order to pass it on generation to generation or to a new owner, it needs to be in a desireable condition or be able to become in better condition.  Doll repair and doll hospitals are not as many as there used to be and they don't cover every doll ever made, so sometimes a doll can fall into disrepair and then end up unwanted.

As a small company ourselves, we cannot save all the dolls even though we would like to.  But every year we select a doll and brand that has the potential to be saved.  We review the doll brand's potential by looking at what the doll needs to be be able to be restored and it's interest level with collectors.  Then we create the products the doll needs such as wigs, parts, clothing size, repair kits, eyes, etc. to allow doll restoration to take place.  We find that when a doll has the ability to be repaired or is once again supported, collectors begin to collect them again and they rise in value once again.

We as well add them to our list of supported dolls, because we are part of the effort of restoring dolls and keeping that cycle going.  We continuously educate ourselves on repairing new types of dolls and what they need.  The ultimate goal is to extend the life of each doll and keep them with owners who love and appreciate them.

Funding for our mission comes from two sources - donations we receive from fellow doll collectors and families and also a portion of profits that we use to keep this ongoing mission alive.

If you would like to support this cause but don't have any dolls to donate, please contact us for instruction.
