This is a new feature on our website. When a product goes out of stock, we want to ensure that all customers that wanted one get a chance to purchase regardless of how many we initially brought in. When you click "Notify When Available" our website will ask you for your email address and a notification gets sent to us indicating what product you are interested in purchasing. Then this notification gets put on an automated list on the backend of our website which will show us who requested what and when.
So what happens from then? We review all the back in stock requests that customers have submitted. Since all our products are ordered in bulk, we may wait until we receive more requests for that particular item before ordering. This is because we have a minimum purchase amount and so we can't order in bulk if we only have a request for one. However, if we receive multiple requests from different customers on the same item, then we are more likely to order that product in earlier. We ask customers to not submit a Back in Stock request if you have no intention of purchasing the product, as this will disrupt our ordering process. If you have questions on a product you can always send us a contact message or chat message instead.
Once we have enough requests submitted, we will change the item to accept Pre-Orders so that customers can place an order for that item. This signals us that you still want the product and are ready to order it. Once we have the product ordered, our website platform will automatically email you when we receive it in stock and we change the website quantity from 0 (out of stock) to in stock.
Why do we have this process? Shouldn't we just restock everything automatically? The answer is no. Think about it this way - when you collect for your dolls do you want 5 of the same thing or do you usually get one or two and then want something different? To keep our collections fresh, we rotate our styles and colors so that our customers always have new options. But that doesn't necessarily mean that your favorites are gone forever and that's why we have the Back in Stock requests. Without this communication, it is extremely hard to guess what the right balance is as we can't always go off of what customers purchased in the past as your needs and wants change. Sometimes you select a wig for your doll and then you are done and don't need to purchase any more. Sometimes you bought it as a gift for someone and that was a one time purchase. Sometimes you purchase and like it but don't need another one and so the next time you come back to us it is for something else. So we can't always go off of what has been purchased historically.
When a product goes out of stock and we put it on order for production, we change the item to show "Pre-Order" and give an estimated time frame for which production should complete and when we anticipate the product to be back in stock. If you purchase a Pre-Order you are guaranteed to get that product ahead of everyone else. That means if someone just clicks the "Notify When Available" button, they receive a message when the product is back in stock but they are not guaranteed to receive that product unless they actually did a Pre-Order for it. We do announce when products are available for pre-order so make sure you do when you see it becomes available.
