This is for a reproduction of Patti Playpal's Carrot-Top release c1961-1962 dress/outfit which featured a green neckline (Mandarin Collar) decorated with orange rick rack, a longer sleeve and a green pinafore with deep scooped neckline and a single line of orange rick rack at the base just above the hem. This dress is constructed similar to the other dresses in the collection excepting that it has variations on sleeve and collar and it's solid green color makes it stand out versus the normal white pinafores seen on the other collection outfits in organdy or cotton.
The underdress is made from a floral print containing yellows, oranges, and greens in the spirit of the original print but not exactly the original print. The dress has a 2.5" deep hem done with an invisible hem stitch and an approximately 9" long skirt to hit at the thigh, the bodice is self lined and the puffed sleeves hit about 3/4 down the arm with cuffs at the base. The dress has almost a mandarin style collar which is just a band that goes around the base of the neck which is decorated with orange rick rack. The dress snaps in back. The original had square snaps however we have used modern snaps for closure. This dress reminds me of the outfits worn in Sound of Music (c1965) for the children and for Maria where you have prints paired with deep scooped necklines.
The pinafore is done in a forest green cotton with a deep scoop neckline no decoration on the bodice and a single row of orange rick rack just above the base of the deep hem. The pinafore snaps in back at the very top bodice portion and is open for the skirt portion which does go all the way around.
This dress set is part of the Patti Playpal Reproduction Wardrobe Series by Bbeauty Dolls and has been created as a tribute to the original outfits that debuted from 1959-1961 for the Patti Playpal Dolls. This dress set is not an original but modeled after the original.
Dresses will fit Patti Playpal herself and any Companion Dolls that have the same body measurements. Thinner Companion Dolls may still be able to wear the collection as most pinafores tie at the waist and are loose fitting.
