This beautiful dress is just in time for Christmas and if you love to dress your dollies for the season, this is a very cute set for display.
The dress is 2 pieces, the dress and the apron. The underdress is made from an embroidered sheer cotton that reminds me of Romanian blouses. The puffed sleeves are one layer to add a bit of sheer against the doll's arm and then the bodice front and back have been lined in white cotton. The front of the bodice is decorated with two gingerbread wooden buttons and a bow tie made from cotton with a peppermint candy print. The bodice is connected to a brown printed paisley design that reminded me very much of cookies, the design on the fabric has a sparkle to it but it isn't a fall off glitter, you can rub and rub and nothing happens. Not sure how they did that, but it is imprinted on the fabric. The dress has been given a 2.5" blind hem at the base and then has a row of white rick-rack above it that mimics gingerbread frosting. The skirt is has a 75"-78" circumference and hits at the thigh level. The dress then snaps closed at the back. Note that this dress is pictured over a petticoat which is sold separately in our shop.
The apron is a single layer of red cotton printed with a woven design that is very subtle, we liked this because it gives the apron character instead of just a plain red. The apron is curved at the edges and handmade peppermint candy ruffle has been hemmed and added to the edges. The waistband is also made from handmade peppermint candy printed cotton and the ties for the back have been self lined to tie into a pretty wide bow in back. The front of the apron has been decorated with two large heart pockets that incorporate the brown skirt fabric topped with the red fabric and a gingerbread cookie from flannel. The heart has been edged with white rick-rack to compliment the skirt. We did an oversized pocket as a nod to large baking oven mitts, the pocket is self lined making it a thick and large pocket to further incorporate that idea. The pockets and all layers are stitched down and open at the tops (even though Patti's arms won't actually bend to put her hands in at that angle.
