This is for a reproduction of Patti Playpal's light turquoise cotton dress with organdy and lace pinafore. This set has two pieces the under dress and the pinafore piece which are separate pieces and can be interchanged with other pieces in our collection.
The underdress is made from a light turquoise color seen in a super rare dress outfit. The original color could have been a bright turquoise at one time and faded, but we chose to recreate it as the light turquoise color. The dress has been reproduced taking notes of the original construction methods with a few differences. The original dress had no bodice lining and we've added the lining back in for nicer finishing on the inside. Finally the last difference is a cotton liner or slip on the inside. We have decided to omit this detail to allow our collection pieces to be mixed and matched and to be able to interchange the looks. For example, this dress can be worn with the pinafore as shown, it can be worn without the pinafore, it can be worn without the pinafore with an added petticoat to make it super full and fluffy (additional piece in our collection), and it can be interchanged with other pinafores in our collection to change the looks. We've designed all our Patti Playpal pieces in our collection to interchange with each other so there are endless mix and match combinations as you collect all the dress sets.
The dress has a 2.5" deep hem done with an invisible hem stitch and an approximately 9" long skirt to hit at the thigh, the bodice is self lined and the puffed sleeves edged with turned up cuffs. The collar is made from turquoise cotton pointed at the front and self lined at the base of the neck. The dress snaps in back. The original had square snaps however we have used modern snaps for closure. The collar is self lined.
The pinafore is made from white organdy with a wide straight lace that frames the bodice portion in an "H" form and then on the skirt has a single strip just above the deep hem. Pinafore ties in the back with organdy ties into a bow. The pinafore is constructed just as the original was.
This dress set is part of the Patti Playpal Reproduction Wardrobe Series by Bbeauty Dolls and has been created as a tribute to the original outfits that debuted from 1959-1961 for the Patti Playpal Dolls. This dress set is not an original but modeled after the original.
Dresses will fit Patti Playpal herself and any Companion Dolls that have the same body measurements. Thinner Companion Dolls may still be able to wear the collection as most pinafores tie at the waist and are loose fitting.
