We fell in love with Patti Playpal Dolls and wanted to create a wig solution to restore these doll treasures if you wanted to on a budget rather than going though the expense of re-rooting.  All Patti Playpal's have rooted hair, which means that the hair comes out from tiny holes in the head in strands and then is knotted behind the hole/often glued.  Re-rooting is a long and expensive process if you don't know how to DIY, so here is our budget friendly solution.
 
This wig style called Vintage Curly is based on one of the original hair styles options Patti came with.  We chose this particular style because it's much harder for re-rooters to create and so most restored dolls are done with stick straight hair styles.  Note that you can use this wig without gluing or can glue it down permanently and it is your choice.  This wig was custom created to fit the Playpal dolls heads exactly.  We've tested this wig on Patti Playpals by Ideal but also over several Companion dolls made by other brands.  All have a 19-19.5" head despite their different designs.  We've made this wig to fit exactly over the dolls head (it is not a human sized wig advertised for Patti which start at 21-22" in size and are too large and not in proportion).  As far as we know, we are the only company producing a wig designed for this doll series.
 
For use, if your doll still has original hair and you want to keep that hair you can position this wig onto your doll's head and simply tuck the old hair under the wig cap.  If you are keeping your original hair, it is not recommended that you glue the wig down.  The cap is fitted tight enough to the head to stay on for display or light play with the wig unglued.  If you are not interested in saving the old hair, or it's seen much better days, we recommend you cut the doll's original hair back to at least 1/2" from the head.  If you'd like a smooth finish you can use plyers to gently pull each of the hair plugs from the holes to remove them completely, or you can shave the head prior to gluing.  You can just glue around the edges of the cap if you do not want to get the short hairs covered in glue.  This wig will cover all the original wig holes and when the wig is applied you will not notice that the doll had rooted hair to begin with.
 
This wig can be positioned far forward on the forehead if you want the bangs to hit lower, or backwards on the head (still cover the holes) if you want the bangs to appear shorter.  Curls can be pinned to the head to be contained or you can leave them as they are pictured where they are fluffy at the side of the head.  The bangs have the same vintage wave that the original hair styles had.  Originally the hair came in a golden blonde and a dark brown as commonly seen.  We hope to offer some of the more rare color finds in the future. This wig can be styled using roller curls and is heat safe although we do not recommend using hot irons or curling irons on it.  Style can be brushed and restyled using a spray bottle of water and finger twirls as well.

Please note wigs are not meant to be put over existing hair and will not fit if you try to do this. Doll must be bald with the previous wig removed from the head. Wig will fit snugly. To put on the wig correctly line up the front of the wig to the hairline on the front of the doll, hold in place and stretch cap over the head to the back. Adjust as necessary.
